Last update: Nintendo
There are times when we would like to capture what we see on our Nintendo Switch console to share it on social media or save it on another device to edit or preserve it. This feature is useful for saving an important achievement, a curious glitch, an unexpected situation, or a hidden object we want to document. Thanks to this tool, it is possible to capture high-quality images of what appears on the screen.
However, there are certain limitations when using this feature. For privacy reasons, it is not possible to capture screens that display personal data, passwords, or other sensitive information. Additionally, some games, applications, or videos have restrictions related to copyright, which also prevents screen capture at certain times. In these situations, the console notifies the user with a message indicating that captures cannot be taken in that specific area.
Despite these restrictions, the screen capture option remains a valuable tool for saving and sharing special moments from your games, whether to relive them later or share them with other players.
Estimated time: 2 minutes.
Step 1:
Press the share button on the left Joy-Con controller or Pro controller of your Nintendo Switch. It's the button you can see in the image.
Step 2:
When you press the button, you will see a notification appear in the upper left corner of the screen indicating that the screenshot has been saved successfully.
Step 3:
If you want to see the screenshots you have taken, press the "Home" button on the right Joy-Con controller, which is the button with a house icon. The Pro controller also has this house icon.
Step 4:
In the home menu of your Nintendo Switch, you will see several icons at the bottom of the screen. Use the joystick or directional pad to move to the "Album" icon and press the "A" button. You can also tap the icon directly on the touchscreen.
Step 5:
When you access the Switch album, you will see all the screenshots taken. Tap on the image you want to view, edit, or share.
Step 6:

Step 7:
To send the screenshot to your mobile phone or tablet, press "Send to a smartphone". You can use either the directional pad or the touch screen to select this option.
Step 8:
A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to send a single screenshot or multiple screenshots. Choose the option you prefer.
Step 9:
Before sending screenshots to your smart device, you must ensure that both the Nintendo Switch and your smart device are connected to the same WiFi network. Disconnect your phone's data connection to avoid issues. A QR code will appear that you need to scan with your phone or tablet, and you will be able to download the screenshots.
