In this article, we will teach you how to listen to YouTube with the screen off easily and without needing to pay for YouTube Premium or make any changes to your phone or tablet. This is a completely legal and simple method.
You will discover the advantages of this feature, such as reducing battery and data consumption, and enjoying your favorite content without interruptions. Keep reading and learn how to make the most of YouTube on your smartphone, whether it's an iPhone or any Android phone.
Estimated time: 1 minutes.
Step 1:
Open youtube.com in the web browser, if you use an iPhone you can open it in Safari, if you use an Android phone of any brand you can use Firefox, Brave, or any other web browser. Chrome can also work but I don't recommend it as it tends to cause more problems.
Step 2:
Find the video you want to listen to with the screen off and press the button to start playing.
Step 3:
Turn off the screen of your phone or tablet by pressing the power button.
Step 4:
Turn on the screen by pressing the power button but do not swipe up to avoid unlocking the phone.
Step 5:
You will see the media player appear on the lock screen, press the play button.
Extra bonus: by using the web browser instead of the app, you will have several more advantages:
You can have an ad blocker installed, which, although it doesn't work for all YouTube ads, can at least block some annoying ads.
You can delete the YouTube app and have more storage space on your device and lower battery consumption.
And finally, by using the web version, you can use YouTube without logging in or by logging in with another secondary account, which will protect your privacy and reduce the amount of data Google has about you and your preferences.
