WhatsApp notifications are very useful for keeping track of new messages without needing to open the app. However, in many situations, it can be a problem for the content of the messages to appear on the lock screen or in the notification bar.
If you prefer to hide the text of notifications for privacy, to prevent others from reading your messages when the phone is unlocked or in view, you can do so from WhatsApp settings. This is especially useful in work environments, meetings, or when the device is left on a table. It is also an additional security measure to protect sensitive information in case of theft or loss of the mobile.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to hide the content of WhatsApp notifications on Android phones, as it is not possible to do so from the system settings. By following these steps, you will be able to receive alerts of new messages without the content being visible to third parties, maintaining your privacy without giving up the convenience of notifications.
Estimated time: 2 minutes.
Step 1:
Logically, the first thing we must do is open the WhatsApp application. Normally, it is located on the main screen; if you can't find it, swipe left to see the other windows of the home screen. If you still can't find it, swipe up to open the list of all installed applications or use the application search by typing "WhatsApp" to find it.
Step 2:
Once the WhatsApp application is open on your device, we will access the settings. On Android devices, you will see a three-dot button at the top right of the screen. Click on these three dots to open the WhatsApp options menu.
Step 3:
When you open the options menu, several sections will appear. Click on the last section: "Settings" to access your WhatsApp settings.
Step 4:
Scroll down through the app settings until you find the section called "Notifications," which you can identify by the bell icon on its left.
Step 5:
Once you are inside the "Notifications" section, several options will appear to configure your WhatsApp notifications on this device. I recommend that you review them and read their meanings. The setting we want to disable to prevent the text of notifications from appearing in the bubbles or notification panel is "High priority notifications." If it appears in green, tap to disable it. You can disable this setting for both individual conversations and groups.
