App notifications are very useful for keeping up with new messages without needing to open the app. However, in many situations, it can be a problem that the content of the messages appears on the lock screen or in the notification bar of the iPhone or iPad and that anyone nearby can read them.
If you prefer to hide the text of notifications for privacy, to prevent others from reading your messages when the phone is unlocked or in view, you can do so from the device settings. This is especially useful in work environments, meetings, or when the device is left on a table. It is also an additional security measure to protect sensitive information in case of theft or loss of the mobile.
However, you need to make this adjustment in each app separately, so you will have to configure it in all the applications where you want to hide the content.
Estimated time: 2 minutes.
Step 1:
To begin, open your iPhone settings, look for the gray icon with gears on the home screen.
Step 2:
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the "Settings" section on your iPhone to find the "Apps" section, which you will recognize by its icon of a purple square with a grid of colorful icons inside.
Step 3:
Notifications for each application are managed separately, so if you want to hide notifications from multiple applications, you will need to repeat this process for each one of them. In this example, we are going to use WhatsApp, tap on the icon of the app you want.
Step 4:
Within all the app settings, you will see a section called "Notifications," tap to access this section.
Step 5:
Here you can configure the type of notifications for this application, but to hide the content of the notifications, you must tap on the "Preview" section.
Step 6:
To hide the content of all notifications from this app, select "Never" and from now on you will only see a notification from this app appear but without any text inside.
