How to hard reset or fully wipe Bluboo Xtouch

Last update: by

If your Bluboo Xtouch does not turn on, it does not react, it shows an error message when it turns on or you want to sell it, give it away or take it in for repair and you want to make sure that all the content stored in its 32 GB (gigabytes) internal memory is erased, you will have to force its restoration.

Forcing the restore or doing a “hard reset” is a drastic method that can be used when the Xtouch settings cannot be accessed either because the password has been forgotten or the operating system is corrupted.

If you can access the settings of your Xtouch and want to perform a restore, it is preferable to do so using the “Reset” method, otherwise continue reading to see step by step how to force the reset, format or do a “hard reset”.

This procedure erases all the content stored on the Xtouch so if possible, you should make a backup copy of your data before proceeding and unlink the Google account.

Estimated time: 5 minutes.

1- First step:

First of all, turn off your Bluboo Xtouch completely. If you can't unlock the screen, press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds and the phone will turn off.

Hard reset using a computer

In case you can't perform a factory reset by accessing the Android recovery menu using the Bluboo Xtouch's buttons, or if you can't access all of its functions, you can access this mode using a computer and a cable.

1- First step:

Download and install "ADB" on your computer. You can search Google for "adb download" or use the following download link from Google's official website:
https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
ADB, or "Android Debug Bridge," is a command-line tool that enables communication between a computer and an Android device. It's part of the Android SDK (Software Development Kit) and provides a bridge for managing the device or its content.

2- Second step:

Extract the folder to a location on your hard drive. To extract the files, right-click the .zip file and click "Extract all." A window will appear where you can choose the location on your hard drive to extract the files.

Extract All

3- Third step:

Connect the Bluboo Xtouch via USB to your computer, preferably with its original cable. Otherwise, any cable that allows data transmission should work.

If one cable doesn't work, try another. There are cables that only transmit power to charge the battery but don't transmit data.

4- Fourth step:

Open a terminal (CMD or PowerShell) in the folder where you extracted the adb files. You can find the "adb" folder inside the "platform-tools" folder.
Right-click and click "Open in Terminal".

Open in Terminal

5- Fifth step:

Type: adb devices in the terminal, as shown in the following image. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

6- Sixth step:

If the Xtouch appears under the text "List of devices attached", type in the terminal: adb reboot recovery.

7- Seventh step:

If your device doesn't appear, try a different cable and make sure you have developer options enabled.
If it appears as "unauthorized," you must authorize USB debugging from the device. Check the Xtouch screen and tap "Allow."

Allow USB debugging

8- Eighth step:

The Xtouch will enter recovery mode. From there, you can perform a wipe data/factory reset using the volume and power buttons, as described in the "Hard reset using the buttons" procedure.
